My mentor Westy taught me that a sketchbook can help get you through some tough times. I’ve found this to be very true.

Drawing has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. But sometimes there’s long periods of time where I get too caught up with life and don’t draw at all. My mentor and buddy Westy inspired me to get into my sketchbook, let it be a therapy of sorts. In the beginning of getting back into it, I found it somewhat stressful. I’d be afraid to ruin the blank page. After forcing myself to do it each day, day after day, it’s getting a bit easier to be looser and just dot down whatever comes to hand.

Also, I love seeing behind the scenes. Whether it’s a movie, a magic trick, a song, or any kind of polished work, it’s rad to see how somebody arrived at that final destination. I love seeing other artist’s sketchbooks, so here’s a few spreads from some of mine.
